The TWA Hotel Photo Booth

The TWA Hotel at JFK Airport in New York is an architectural dream. The building, which was originally designed by Eero Saarinen for the TWA Flight Center, opened in 1962. In 2005, the National Park Service listed the TWA Flight Center on the National Registry of Historic Places. In 2015, it was confirmed that the amazing Saarinen building would be transformed into a hotel for JFK airport guests!

In 2019, the restoration and renovation of the terminal were completed, and the TWA Hotel opened for business! Majestic Photobooth was commissioned to design a custom vintage photo booth for the grand opening of the hotel as a permanent installation in the lobby. Needless to say, we were beyond excited. We worked with the design team at TWA to customize all aspects of the booth. For the outside of the booth, we did a custom photo booth wrap, custom red velvet curtains, and designed a penny tile floor for the photo booth that matches the floor in the hotel lobby. For the digital assets, we did a custom layout for the printed photo strips, a custom HTML email for photo delivery, and custom touchscreen graphics. We were able to stay a couple of nights at the hotel when we delivered and set up the photo booth, and it was incredible! After taking in the stunning architecture and all of the history, we caught some sun at the rooftop pool, while we watched planes take off and land on the JFK runway, enjoyed an amazing dinner at the celebrated Chef Jean-Georges’ Paris Cafe, which overlooks the breathtaking hotel lobby, and sipped on classic cocktails aboard the 1958 Lockhead Constellation airplane, turned cocktail lounge, known as “Connie.”
